This time the quintet performance brought by the members of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra will present Vaughan Williams' Piano Quintet in C minor in the 2023-24 music season. After its premiere in 1905, this chamber music work, which has a very similar style of Williams' mentor Bruch, was withdrawn from publication by himself until it was published in 2002 again after his death when the manuscript was donated by his wife. In the second part of the concert, Schubert's string quintet is one of the last few works of his career. Charles Rosen found many tributes to Mozart's string quintet motives in this work.
