With the weather getting nicer (kinda?), we're entering that wonky time of year in which we've got a few days off here and there like random mana gifts from heaven. If you're looking to plan a quick trip out of town or a fancy hotel staycation, look for these important days.
Wednesday, April 5 - Qingming Festival
You've got a day off coming up Wednesday, April 5 for Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day). There are no make-up days for this one, so its a good time to take some annual leave if you've got some and extend it a few days in either direction.
April 29 to May 3 - Labor Day Holiday
Labor Day Holidays are five days this year running through the above dates. But basically you get Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off in early May. But then... work make-up days are on Sunday, April 23 and Saturday, May 6. So... you can do the math on how that holiday gets reduced from five days to... well, y'know.
June 22 to June 24 - Dragon Boat Festival
Looking into deep summer, you've got a three-day holiday from June 22 to June 24 for you to once again try to figure out where the Dragon Boats are or just to check off a China travel destination off your to-do list. There's one make-up day for that one: Sunday, June 25th.
September 29 to October 6 - Mid-Autumn Festival & National Holidays
This year Mid-Autumn festival is just before the National Day holidays so you got 8 days in a row off. The holiday break is from September 29 until October 6, with two make-up workdays on October 7 (Saturday) and October 8 (Sunday). Sometimes called Golden Week, it's a bad time to travel unless you don't mind crowds.
Thats it for now. Safe travels.
