It's Been Four Years

After a four-year hiatus, the 2023 China Dragon Boat Open Tournament (Putuo Shanghai), also known as The 19th Shanghai International Suzhou Creek Dragon Boat International Tournament, is set to take place this weekend from June 17th to 18th, at Zhong Yuan Liang Wan Cheng. However, please note that the actual holiday (where you get time off), is June 22 - 24.

Who's Taking Part

They are flying in Dragon boat teams from the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan will join the event. The men's group will feature eight teams competing in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 500-meter straight-track races using 22-person dragon boats. Meanwhile, the women's group will consist of four teams competing in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 500-meter straight-track races.

Where to Watch

It's happening at Suzhou Creek, but unfortunately, you can't simply go to Suzhou Creek to watch the race because the application mini-program for that closed a few days ago. Thus, it might be a better choice to watch it online. If you go there without applying, you won't be able to get very close due to the reserved areas that are closed off for people who applied in advance. Nevertheless, it would still be a great experience if you manage to see it in real life.

To watch it online, you can catch all the action live on Sunday, June 18th, starting at 8:45 a.m., with the event being streamed online via platforms such as The Paper.
