The city government just released the calendar of larger international sports events via their official WeChat account, and it looks like several of the big ticket, larger international events will be returning in 2023. The biggest one on the list is the Tennis Masters Cup which is confirmed to return this October 2-15 at the Qizhong Sports Center. This year's event, according to the organizers, has been upgraded since Daniil Medvedev beat Alexander Zverev last time for the title in 2019. We're eager to see how. Still missing on the list is the Shanghai Formula One GP. It used to be held in Shanghai every year in April. Speaking to the organizers, it appears that it's really not happening this year — not even at a later date — but they are optimistic that it will return in 2024. Also not confirmed this year yet is the Longines Global Champions Tour — a popular, squiffy equestrian event everyone likes wearing fabulous hats to. Organizers are confident that it will return to Shanghai next year, however.
