Inspired by the hit web series Why Women Kill and created by the artistic duo Ksenia Geddes and Trenton Schneiders, the show transports the audience into a world of mystery and memories where fact blends with fiction. Based on the love story between Princess Odette and Prince Siegfried, Swan Lake has enjoyed enduring popularity with diverse versions by different ballet companies around the world. Suzhou Ballet Theatre has invited the renowned ballet masters Zhang Weiqiang and Caroline Gruber to stage a new version of Swan Lake by Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet. With choreography by Galina Yordanova after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, this version premiered in 1973 and has been performed over 200 times.

Finnish melodic death powerhouses Kalmah and Suotana are set to electrify Modernsky Lab this weekend. While the swamplords Kalmah have graced stages in China for some time, enchanting and captivating audiences with their fiery riff craft and melodic acrobatics, this will mark Suotana's inaugural performance. They bring a unique blend of power metal, tinged with a darker, black metal essence, adding a blood-curdling dimension to their sound. It promises to be a mammoth metal event for fans far and wide. Capturing the sound of ‘surf rock strung out on methadone for those who prefer the company of tumbleweeds,’ the band, led by the nonchalantly charismatic Liu Ge (who recently relocated to Shanghai), brings their psychedelic-laced rustic tunes (imagine whatever's on stage with David Lynch at the Desert Sun Motel) to Yuyintang Park for a special showcase with some of its newest members. 8:30 PM. Seasoned label StreetVoice has teamed up with Yuyintang’s New Face Underground series, which has been going strong for well over three years, aimed at giving a spotlight to new and emerging bands. For their latest grab bag of aspiring acts (on a Sunday night, no less), they’ve tapped distortion-roaring Pinkity, instrumental rockers Desolation Silence, and core emoters Aimless. 8:30 PM.
